February 13, 2018

Sleeman Centre is home of the Guelph Storm OHL Hockey Franchise. In addition to ice sports, this facility hosts a variety of events including, concerts, corporate and family events and an assortment of special sports events. The facility typically operates for 18 hours per day during the hockey season leaving the off season schedule dependent on event bookings, off ice leagues and maintenance.

The lighting at the facility was upgraded by the City of Guelph at the cost of $112,000, which includes a provincial rebate of nearly $29,000. Additionally, the city also recieved a $9,000 rebate from Guelph Hydro. Annually, the new LED lights are expected to save $13,000 in utility bills and more than $8,000 in maintenance costs.
